Ziad Elsissy

Ziad El-Sisi began his athletic career playing basketball until his mother suggested he pursue an
individual sport. He chose fencing in 2006, Where he started in Smouha Club in Alexandria until
now.
His first international participation was in 2012 with the Egyptian national team, where he won a
bronze medal at the African Youth Championship in South Africa, his first international medal of his
career. He has since won numerous medals, most notably a bronze medal at the 2022 Fencing World
Cup in Algeria, making him the first Egyptian to win a medal in this tournament. He also
participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He is the first Egyptian, Arab, and African fencer to win a
medal in a world championship, having won a bronze medal at the 2023 World Champions…
